Noel de Guzman
De Guzman is an award-winning art director and illustrator based in Hong Kong. He is the founder and creative director of Artmazing!—a Hong Kong-based publishing and design firm established in 2010.
Born and raised in Manila, he worked in various advertising agencies, including Hemisphere-Leo Burnett and J. Walter Thompson, as an art director before moving to Hong Kong in 1993 to work on various regional publications such as Hong Kong Tatler, South China Morning Post, and Time Out, to name a few. He has won multiple design and illustration awards including “Illustration of the Year” at the 13th Philippine Advertising Congress.
De Guzman has worked on a wide array of brands including: McDonalds, Citi, IBM, HSBC, 7-Up, United Airlines, Shangri-La Hotels, South China Morning Posts, World Health Organization, Kraft, National, Landmark, Lan Kwai Fong Group, Time Out, Asian Development Bank, Localiiz, Foreign Correspondents Club, Asian Investor, InsuranceAsia News, Global Health and Travel, Baccarat, Hong Kong Design Institue, Macau One, Stanley Plaza, Premiere Production Hong Kong, Cordis Hotel, City of Dreams, Osage Gallery, Bookazine, Gold Coast Hotel, Index Universe, KPMG, City of Dreams and Kerry Hotel.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, major in Visual Communications, from the University of the Philippines.
He is also an accomplished painter, having done ten solo art exhibitions and completed commissioned works around Southeast Asia. He is an active member of the Filipino community in Hong Kong and has organized more than a hundred socio-civic events such as blood donation drives, clean up drives, livelihood projects, and many more.
Dr. Vic Villan
Villan is a professor of history at the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy; Graduate Studies coordinator of the Tri-College Philippine Studies Program of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman in Quezon City; former president of the ADHIKA ng Pilipinas, Inc.; member of Advisory Committee of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines; and committee member of NCCA Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA). He completed all his degrees in history (bachelors, masters, and PhD) at the same university. Prior to teaching at UP Diliman, he also taught at UP Los Baños, Laguna from 1994 to 1997.
He is an accomplished author whose works include Kasaysayang Bayan: Sampung Aralin sa Kasaysayang Pilipino (2001), Cofradia de San Jose at Rehimentong Tayabas: Mga Pagtalakay sa Pag-usbong ng Pakikibaka ng mga Taga-Lalawigan ng Quezon (2004), Kabihasnang Asyano: Kasaysayan at Kultura (2005), Asian Civilization: History and Culture (2006), La Primera Provincia: Mga Tinipong Papel Hinggil sa Pagkakatatag ng Lalawigan ng Bulacan (2010), Paglaya-Paglawud: Paglalayag at Ugnayan ng mga Pamayanan sa Kasaysayang Pilipino (2012), and Puod: Kasaysayan at Kalinangan ng mga Pamayanang Maritimo sa Pilipinas (2014), and several journals from DALUYAN: Journal ng Wikang Filipino (2010, 2013), DIWA E-Journal (2013), and E-Saliksik Journal (2013). He is coauthor and associate editor of Saysay: Historiograpiya at mga Salaysay na Pangsambayanan sa Kasaysayan at Kalinanangang Pilipino (2016), Pantayong Pananaw: Pagyabong ng Talastasan; Pagbunyi kay Zeus A. Salazar (2015); Pantayong Pananaw: Ugat at Kabuluhan; Pambungad sa Pag-aaral ng Bagong Kasaysayan (1997/2000). He is also the editor of E-Saliksik Journal (2013).
He became a historical consultant of the accoladed period television series Amaya (2011-2012) and Indio (2013) on GMA-7. He is the coproducer and host of the radio program Tabi-tabi Folkloradyo of DZUP, 1602 KHZ.
Among the awards he received are the Metro Manila Commission Diamond Jubilee Professorial Chair Award (2002) of the UP Social Sciences and Philosophy; Advanced Seminar on Southeast Asian Historiography Grant (2010) of the Southeast Asian Studies Regional Exchange Program (SEASREP); CSSP Junior Faculty Writing Fellowship (2010), OVCRD Source of Solutions Grant (2012), Centennial Faculty Grant (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), and Centennial Professorial Grant (2017) of UP Diliman; Social Sciences and Development Professorial Grant of PUP Sta. Mesa (2017); and the Gawad ng Pagkilala (2013) from the UP Diliman Lipunang Pangkasaysayan.
Silvestre is a freelance writer, editor, and layout designer. She’s been in the publishing industry for more than five years and has handled and worked on vast array of books—from children’s books, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. She is currently the assistant managing editor of Fish Magazine, an inspirational magazine for the youth. She also contributes for Feast Magazine and Global Filipino newsletter.
Pascual has been editing and writing for a living for more than a decade. A journalism graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, she has worked in the fields of market research, social media intelligence, business brokerage, and digital marketing. Throughout her career, she has written and edited more than a hundred articles, analytical reports, whitepapers, selling memorandums, and sales letters for companies in Asia and North America.
